The Bags You Love…

Tuesday, December 6th, 2011

This guy is not me, but he's got the right thing in his hand.

I know I created the ‘Spotlight On’ category here at Patrick Says to showcase great blogs, but why not expand it to showcase anything I want to put a spotlight on? So, I’d like to sing the praises of one of the greatest inventions ever: Ziploc bags.

Man, I love these things. Specifically, the gallon size and they don’t have to be Ziploc brand either. There are so many uses for these bags it’s ridiculous. Seriously. Here’s just a sample of what I use these for.

  • Vomit bags for the wife’s purse. (She gets sick a lot.)
  • A Lego ship breaks and I need to find the book to put it back together. Put all the parts in a bag and seal it.
  • Organizing the medical supplies.
  • Getting ice cubes from the freezer at work to home.
  • Really gross used dressings…I’m sensing a trend here.
  • Two words: Halloween candy.
  • Marinading food.
  • Carrying a large cache of Bulova watches to a flea market. (Okay, I’ve never done this, but you get the idea. They’re versatile.)

What do you put in them? Don’t be gross.

Spotlight On…

I created this category and have only used it once. About overdue, so here you go.

Today’s spotlight is on My First Dictionary. This site is hilarious. The idea is to take those child dictionaries and change the definition to something wholly inappropriate, but nonetheless funny. Some of them are very warped, but I love that kind of thing.

By the way, I just searched my site and found that I have highlighted this site before. But since I’ve written most of this post, I’m not deleting it. It’s just that good of a site. Go visit and get a laugh. They also have contests where readers can write their own definition.

Anyway, before I drift off into discussions about office furniture, I’ll wrap this post up. Thanks for reading!

Spotlight On…

Sometimes, I like to tell people about a cool site I found or something interesting that maybe you haven’t seen. I think maybe a new category is in order. Thus, ‘Spotlight On…’

This first entry is for a site I cannot wait to see pretty much everyday. It’s called Lamebook. What it is pure hilarity. The site finds the most embarrassing, most awkward and funniest interactions on Facebook and posts them, albeit with the names of those involved blurred. It’s amazing.

Here’s an example (you’ll have to click it to read it):

That’s kind of what you get. Sometimes, they are a little vulgar, but I love toilet humor, so no big for me. Here’s another good one. I feel this kid’s pain, but he brought it on himself (again, click to read it):

So, kind of like Medicare supplement insurance, the pain is very, very real.
