Hey, Amy! Amy Lee, lead singer of Evanescence and semi-goth chick who seems to dig corsets as much as me. Can I have a word with you?

I go to all the trouble of having a HUGE, multi-layered voting battle and crown you Patron Saint of this very blog and you have done exactly NOTHING newsworthy in the ENTIRE time since. For crying out loud, throw something at your personal assistant or maybe attack a clerk at Target. Something… heck, anything!

Help a brother out!

I mean, seriously, Mary Alice from Ace of Cakes ACTUALLY wrote me and sent me pictures. Don’t think I won’t revoke your status. Maybe Mary Alice can take a swing at a law enforcement officer every once and awhile.

The Patron Saint Battle is over.

And in a heated battle, Amy Lee of Evanescence took the victory by a score of 20-12 over Mary Alice of ‘Ace of Cakes’. Amy Lee will be awarded the title of ‘Patron Saint’ for Patrick Says. As well as the title, Amy Lee also wins the crown (currently at a pawn shop), a vegetable bouquet (which we’ll be using for a stew tomorrow…fingers crossed) and the prize money totaling $1.98. (That’s our budget, Amy!) Contact me for your prize money.

Mary Alice is the office manager of Charm City Cakes, the bakery of Duff Goldman, featured on the Food Network show, ‘Ace of Cakes’. Mary Alice is cool, quirky and good with the puns.

AMY LEE OF EVANESCENCE

Amy Lee is the vocalist, songwriter and driving force behind the rock group, Evanescence. She loves corsets (as do I). She is also a classically-trained pianist.

Another Patron Saint Update…

Okay, the third round is nearly complete. Here’s how it went. Kate Winslet made short work of Rogue. In the second battle, Amy Lee and Elisha Cuthbert finished dead even at eight votes each. In the event of a tie, I pick my favorite and I choose Amy Lee. So, Kate Winslet are two of the three finalists.

The Gabrielle Union / Mary Alice battle is still underway although Mary Alice has a healthy lead and is virtually assured the victory.

How are we doing the final round?

All three finalists will be voted. One vote per person. At the end of a week, the lowest vote gets eliminated. Then for one week, the two finalists go head to head. At the end of that voting period, the highest number of votes is declared the new patron saint of this blog.

What can the winner expect? Besides undying love? A picture on the home page and an RSS feed of their very own. So, good luck to all!

Okay, so here is the last battle to determine the three nominees who will go head to head to head for two weeks in the last round. The battle for this third and final slot is between Mary Alice from Ace Of Cakes and Gabrielle Union.

So, who is Mary Alice? Mary Alice is the office manager (like me!) at Charm City Cakes in Baltimore, which is where they film the show ‘Ace of Cakes’ that airs on Food Network. Mary Alice is the spunky, fun one who also seems to be the go-to girl for the puns. She has a great vibe and just has that ‘she could be my friend’ air about her.

Mary Alice’s story in this battle is interesting, to say the least. Originally, I had Mary Alice going up against Kate Winslet. But an exhaustive search found no pictures of Mary Alice out there. So I did the logical thing and disqualified her. I got a comment from someone claiming to be Mary Alice calling the whole thing unfair. I followed it up and much to my surprise, it actually was her. Go figure. After some emails, I offered to bring her back in the third round and she sent me a couple pics. So, here you go, Mary Alice. I’m a man of my word. (Oh and I saw an episode last night and caught the Alice In Wonderland tattoo. I would love to hear the story behind that one. Email me.)

When I was laying out the whole battle plan, it became obvious there might be a couple favorites. I opted to give those favorites byes into the third round. The first of those is Amy Lee, lead singer of Evanescence, taking on Elisha Cuthbert.

Amy Lee is one of my favorites for a lot of reasons. Vocally, she is amazing. She’s got that goth look. And really, and this is critical in our patron saint, she wears a LOT of corsets. Don’t even get me started on my love of the corset. Anyway, that’s Amy Lee.

You will remember Elisha from previous rounds. She is coming off an upset win against Rachael Ray. Vote!

In the next day or two, the voting on round #2 will end for patron saint. Like hoodia in your inbox, these polls will not be available much longer. Have you voted?

Here are look at the matches in progress:

Gabrielle Union is pretty handily beating Sporty Spice. Not really close there.
Storm and Rogue are in a nail-biter with only one vote separating them.
Newcomer and late entry Rachel Bilson is trailing behind veteran Kate Winslet.
And in an upset I could not have imagined, Rachael Ray is going down to Elisha Cuthbert? It’s still close and could swing either way, but that one shocks me.

Voting continues until tomorrow for two of the battles and Monday for the other two. Round #3 will get underway promptly on Tuesday night. Stay tuned!
