First, I dig Adele. She’s got some serious singing chops. I even said so here. But I was listening to her latest single, ‘Someone Like You’ and it’s kind of leaning toward scary ‘get a restraining order’ behavior. Let’s have a look at the lyrics, shall we?

I heard that you’re settled down
That you found a girl and you’re married now.
I heard that your dreams came true.
Guess she gave you things I didn’t give to you.

Old friend, why are you so shy?
Ain’t like you to hold back or hide from the light.

I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited
But I couldn’t stay away, I couldn’t fight it.
I had hoped you’d see my face and that you’d be reminded
That for me it isn’t over.

Let me see if I’ve got this right? You’re confronting your ex-boyfriend, who has had the time to meet another woman, court her, MARRY her and get a place with her? And you ‘couldn’t stay away’ or even call before coming over? It’s not over for you? How long did he court his new wife? And why couldn’t you fight it? Did voices in your head tell you to go over and just show up?

Seriously, dude, get the restraining order. This is going nowhere good.

I got a card at work for the holidays. Vendors do this a lot to make us feel valued. Whatever. Anyway, inside the card is one of my biggest grammatical pet peeves. See if you can find it.

That’s right! I cannot stand unnecessary capitalization. So, unless Peace, Joy, Hope and Happiness are four exotic dancers (fingers crossed) from the East side, this card is WRONG WRONG WRONG!!! Yes, I also notice the lack of a period at the end of the sentence, but I could forgive that in a card.
