You may have noticed that off to the left here on the site, I have dumped the Google Adsense ad and added in the Amazon banner. I did this for a couple reasons.

• Google AdSense was going nowhere. It would literally take 50-60 years at my current rate to get to the $100 cash-out point.
• I have made real money from people buying stuff through my Amazon affiliate link.
• I like Amazon.

So, if you’re going to Amazon to buy stuff from deodorant to the latest laptops, please click my banner and then go about your shopping. It will not change your price at all and you can feel good about supporting this amazing blog! Win-win!

UPDATE: Added back the AdSense. The Amazon thing is never going to pay out much…it just isn’t. I realize this now.

Is there ever a good excuse for not posting? There are, but I don’t have one. Just busy. I’ll try to rectify that.

On the weight loss front, this week I hit a very important milestone: halfway. Since late June when I hit 257.4 pounds, I have lost 40 pounds on the way to my goal weight of 177 pounds, which is 40 more pounds away. I’ll get there, ideally before Christmas, but I’m not rushing it.

I feel bad for the people around me. I’m trying desperately not to be that a-hole who quit smoking and has to tell every smoker how to quit. But it’s hard to not evangelize about losing weight. You feel so good about succeeding at something that you want to help everyone do it. But then, I get that you need some kind of catalyst to change. So I’m trying not to be that a-hole.

What else is there to cover? Dishwasher jobs? Hidden agendas in kids books? Yes! I have a whole series planned on the hidden agendas in children’s fare. Be thinking of your favorite!
