Hey You…
(Warning: this post is laced with profanity, kind of. I put in asterisks.)

Dear A**holes In Virginia Who Got Hold Of My Debit Card Info,
I hope you f***ing die. Or at the very least, I’m hoping wishing praying for your diagnosis of severe rectal cancer. Oh man, I want to punch you right in your junk. You want to steal? Go steal from rich people. Thanks to you, I had to put back the groceries I was attempting to purchase and scramble to find an alternate funding source for my kids medicine that they need to keep their asthma in check. Thanks, a**hats.
Also, I’d like to send a gigantic middle finger to Gamestop #4758 and a restaurant called Croaker’s Spot. You guys are TOP NOTCH at catching card fraud. And by TOP NOTCH, I mean I ain’t never seen anybody as s**t-all stupid as you clowns. Dude is buying $162 worth of games (I guess) and you don’t ask for a f***ing driver’s license. Not even a quick look-see at a license. I’m glad dude ripped you off because when these charges are reversed, you’re just out the merchandise. Maybe next time, you’ll actually look.
That is all. Sorry. I’m a little bitter right now.

I would have wondered how anyone could use someone else’s card info in a store without having the actual card – but sadly, this same thing happened to another friend last week. She found out that these thieves use this info and make fake cards, which they then use at stores.
With all of the fraud going on, it is surprising that most stores do not bother to check ID when someone is using the card as “credit” (as opposed to having to type in a PIN). But it’s true, most stores do not. That needs to change.
I hope you get your money back soon, and they catch whoever did this.

I am so so so sorry. I can only imagine how furious you must be right now. I know all too well what it’s like to have a set amount of money for groceries, doctor visits, whatever, and to not have extra to cover things. Ugh. Were you able to find an alternate funding source for your kids’ medicine?
Have you called these stores to ream them out about allowing the transactions to go through? You’d think that around this of year they would be stepping up their security and checks for licenses and such a bit more. I know our local Gamestop always does.

I did not call the stores. I’m not doing anything while this is under investigation. But I have found that at least six people I know have had this problem in the last month. The credit card industry seems to have an epidemic. IT NEEDS to sit down and work out better security. More on that in an upcoming post, I think.

JUST happened to my hubby a couple weeks ago. Someone got ahold of his Mastercard number and went to a game store…ugggg!
I know you didn’t need this extra stress.
Hope everything has been worked out.

Well, investigations can take ‘up to 10 days’ while I don’t have access to any money at all. At least payday is coming soon.

Hopefully it gets resolved quickly. Look, now we’re both statistics in the same category!
There’s a plus, no?

You might find the way they’re doing this is by reprogramming the magnetic stripe on their card; so the card presented will be visually correct to the user and the store clerk, but the charges go to the victim. Its catching on from Europe, along with the cards with chips in them being scanned and used as well. I keep daily tabs on mine…sometimes the perps get the card info from bank databases or vendor databases, and theres nothing you can do to prevent it. Ya need anything Pat? Im not far away…..
