Who’s Afraid Of Black Friday?

I’m not going to lie, I hate Black Friday. I don’t do well with large crowds of people and I hate waiting in lines. So I don’t show on that day. Actually, I’m more of a Cyber Monday kind of guy. The cyber means online which means no lines and no crowds. That’s a win in my book.

The thing that usually bugs me about Cyber Monday, and Black Friday for that matter, is that they fall deeply between paydays. And I’m terrible at putting money aside, so I never have funds available to shop on either day. One of these days, I have to figure how those ‘Christmas’ bank accounts work.

Black Friday is so blase now….the stores here now have big Wednesday night thing, then there’s the ones which start their ‘after Thanksgiving’ sales around Noon on THANKSGIVING DAY.

Bah. It’s all marketing…you can usually get the same deals the weekend prior to the holiday anyway.

Christmas club accounts are great!! The way my credit union works theirs is you can add to it at any pace you like throughout the year and then on like Oct. 1st, they empty it into your checking account. Now they realize that you may not need it at that time and so you can redeposit it back over and then draw it out for free atleast 2 more times before Dec. 31st. You can withdraw it earlier than Oct. 1st if you really need to but you will pay a $25 early withdrawal fee each time you dip into it. So there’s good incentive to keep it there and not to touch it. I like to consider that it’s not possible to take from it early and that way I won’t be tempted to do it. I haven’t used mine in a while but when I did, I just decided how much I wanted to spend for Christmas the next year and then divided out the number of weeks I’d save and tucked it away each week accordingly. Worked out great, you should try it!
