Birthday Wishes…

Steak’s birthday is coming up soon and while I’m not getting him an Xbox 360 (he’s three), I do want to get him something nice. The key is to make sure the approximate value is equal to The Oldest’s birthday back in April. That gives you a ballpark figure to work with.

So, what do you get a soon-to-be four-year-old these days?

No, seriously, what do you get him? I need some suggestions people. Get on it in the comments. Help a brother out. He likes Spider-Man a lot. And anything Star Wars-related.

You know what? The more I think about, the more he needs a bike.

I’ll take your suggestions regardless. Thanks.

A bike would be good, with all the accessories-helmet, knee and elbow pads, etc. Maybe his own DS? Does he have one yet? What did you get the other one? Just, so I have a price point in my head.

A bike would be much better than any game system (too sedentary). However, I don’t think you have to mirror the value of The Oldest’s present. We always taught our kids we loved them equally, but sometimes one would get something bigger than the other ones. It happens. Over the long run it evens out.

What about a scooter instead of a bike? Eddie loves his, got it for his 4th birthday. He got a Leapster for his surgery last month and a few games and he is loving it. It’s a cheaper than a DS, though the games are probably about the same, and a little tougher/meant for kids his age.

Or a Vegas trip. Kids love Vegas.

Hmm, I wouldn’t think getting a kid an outdoor gift like a bike would be a great gift to get considering his birthday is like the start of fall time and then winter. He might not really get to enjoy it til next year. What’s a stomp rocket?

My kid is 6 and STILL can’t ride her bike. So scooter. Or seriously, legos. Builds their brains, get Star Wars one. Cheaper, too. My theory is buy cheap until they can tell the difference. Emily got two stuffed animals from us. She didn’t even notice with the stuff from her grandparents and a family friend. One was a huge dog, but they were Ikea. Maybe $20 total? She was thrilled.

Well, Steak has a tricycle, but he’s getting too big for it.

With me only having a girl, I’m not too good with the boy gifts.?.? I’ll have to ask my little one. I almost always prefer gifts that keep them up and moving instead of sitting.
