Steak, my three-year-old, is awesome. I’ll tell you why. Because he can commit to something without reservation. For example, the run. When he runs, he throws his ENTIRE body into it. He plows forward with no safety net. It’s an all-out run. If he hits a bump or trips over clamps and falls, he is going to completely wipe-out.

And I love that about him. It’s a trait that goes away very quickly as we age. As an adult, we don’t take risks. There’s too much riding on it. But sometimes, you have to take a risk because the reward is worth it. And if you take a risk, by all means, go all-out.

If you need any confirmation that I’m not ‘all there’, let me tell you about my problem with beverages. You’re going to love this one.

So, when purchasing or drinking soda, I have this bizarre rule in my head that I won’t drink anything with three or more ‘processes’. I’ll explain. Regular cola soda is the base. Making it diet is one process. No problem. I was at the store and saw Diet Cherry Coke. Adding cherry would be the second process, so we’re still okay.

But at one time, Coca-Cola was marketing Diet Vanilla Cherry Coke. NO WAY. Three processes. Don’t want it. See, in my insane brain, three processes is too many chemicals or procedures. It makes no actual sense. The diet part probably has all the chemicals I need to get cancer in my later years. This arbitrary three-process rule is just mad.

But that’s how I roll. Like health insurance in NC, I’m complicated.
