It’s All About The Soundtrack You Add…

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

I’m pretty convinced that you can add the music from ‘The Benny Hill Show’ to anything and it becomes hilarious. To test this theory, I went to YouTube, of course. Right off the bat, I found this.

Example #1 – ‘Friday The 13th’

Did a little more searching and found more stuff.

Example #2 – Orange County Police Car Chase

Lastly, there are other examples on YouTube, but I’m not going to embed them or even link them as they involve a fairly significant event in recent American history that you would think is beyond this kind of act. It isn’t and I’m not going to lie. I laughed even as I knew I shouldn’t be.

Sorry. That music is just too funny.
Unlike cat supplies, which are not funny.

Recently, Jami posted a clip from the Jimmy Kimmel with T-Pain using auto-tune on the President. I don’t know when this aired on Kimmel’s show, but there is a series on YouTube that I LOVE using the same idea. The Gregory Brothers have created a entire series around the idea of auto-tuning the news. It’s awesome. Seriously. Love this series.

They’re all pretty good, but so far, #8 is my favorite. I’ve embedded it below. It’s both hilarious and a downright catchy tune. I would almost buy the mp3. I said almost. The beauty of this stuff is the characters they create that interact with the news-makers and they way they wrap it all together in the end. Great stuff.

Again, here is the link to the whole series: Auto-Tune The News
The Federal Commission of Me agrees, this series rules!

Songs In The U.S…

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

In honor of Miley’s latest hit, ‘Party In The U.S.A.’, I thought it might be mildly interesting to revisit some songs that featured U.S. in the title. And since people love lists more than steam cleaners, we may as well make it a countdown. So, the best three songs with U.S. in the title:

At #3 is Megadeth’s cover of the Sex Pistols ‘Anarchy In The U.K.’, of course, changing U.K. to U.S.A. I love the Sex Pistols original, but Dave Mustaine and company do a fine cover version.

At #2 is ‘Back In The U.S.S.R.’ by the Beatles. Rocking from beginning to end, this is a definitive Beatles classic.

And at #1, no surprise to most, is Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Born In The U.S.A.’. One of my favorite notes about this song is that it is often misinterpreted as an uplifting song about being an American. It’s not. It is, however, quite powerful.

(I would have embedded all these videos, but they are all disabled ‘by request’. Music owners just don’t get it.)

It’s Probably My Fault…

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

I think I did it. Let me explain.

The other day, Jen and I were talking about her health problems. As you are probably aware, her health has been a roller coaster for the last two years. I was trying to cheer her up as the problems began to worsen again. I said something, which in hindsight, was pretty stupid.

‘Well, at least we seem to be past the hospital stage.’

Yes. Dumb. I know.

hang in there kitten

So, she goes to the doctor and her doctor…oh boy. I criticize her doctor quite frequently because, in my opinion, she rarely ever does any doctoring. She just sends Jen to the ER. Every. Single. Time. She’s more like a hotel concierge than an actual doctor. So, of course, faster than a teen running for acne skin care products, she sends Jen to the ER. They admit her and here we are on Sunday with Jen hoping to come home tomorrow.

Fingers crossed.

I think stay, she’s doing better. The hospital is really close to home and she has my netbook to surf the Interwebz to help keep in touch with everyone. It’s better, but not nearly as good as being home.

I’ll get you home as soon I can, baby. Hang in there.
