That One Weekend…

Outfield - Play DeepAs I’m sitting here listening to the Outfield’s classic ‘Play Deep’, I’m transported back to 1990. I was at my first Air Force base. It was Fort Worth, Texas. I was just out of high school. We had the best party. It was at a friend’s house off-base. It started on Friday night and literally ran for the entire weekend. It was the weekend that movies are made about. Nothing spectacular happened, but entire relationships began, climaxed and ended. And this album was on repeat pretty much the whole time.

I guess everybody has had one weekend like that?

1995, Alanis Morisette’s “Jagged Little Pill”. I was 17 and the parental units were out of town. They left me (and approx 14 or 15 other people…unknown to them of course) to house sit and behave. No one behaved and angry, jilted rocker chicks ruled the world. (So did the Zima).
