Remotely Speaking…

As I’m writing this, it’s Monday evening at about 10:48pm. The timestamp on this post will not reflect that. That’s because I don’t have any Internet at home anymore. Also, this evening, they cut off the satellite television. Both of these services were provided to me by AT&T. Turns out, if you don’t pay your bill, they turn all this stuff off.

Go figure.

So, anyway, I’m writing this now and I’ll take it to work in the morning and post it. It will be weird not having that connection all the time. Weird things are already happening. Sitting in front of the computer is pretty boring without Internet. I keep launching Firefox and realizing that there isn’t any place to go. Weird.

Also, when getting ready to leave work, I kind of threw a status up on Facebook that I was going home and see you all tomorrow. And it was like, all of a sudden, people with connections at home were these elite snobs. ‘Ooooh, look at me, I can connect all the time.’ I realize that’s just my resentment.

This sucks.

And sadly, this is just the beginning. Jen continues to have medical problems. And I can’t afford the basic medicines she and the kids need. I ‘talked’ with CCCS and it was a joke. They said to talk to my lender and gave me, literally, 33 pages of crap I already know about prioritizing my expenses.

POP QUIZ!

Which of these do you NOT pay?

  • Mortgage
  • Your family’s medicines
  • Food
  • Electricity
  • Gas for the car to get to work

WELL, WHICH ONE, CCCS? HUH? MOTHER*******!!! ARGHHHHHHH!!!

Okay. Better now. But you get the idea. The next step, I guess, is to call the two mortgage holders I’m behind with and the VA as well (since I have a VA loan). I really don’t want to go the b-word route. I don’t. But I will fight, tooth and nail, to not leave this house. My son just got used to his school and the last thing he needs is to be uprooted and moved somewhere else before the fall.

So, that’s where we are.

I’ve also decided to put these posts about this financial nightmare of mine into its own category on the blog. I’m calling it ‘My Giant Financial Mess‘. This will technically be the first post in it even though there were some posts prior that dealt with my money problems. This is the first where I was actually getting help (if you call the CCCS ‘help’), so it seems the logical choice.

(UPDATE: Using dial-up to post this tonight. Wow. I forgot how unbelievably slow dial-up was. Just wow. You have forgotten…)

That sucks, dude. Money problems are the worst. I’m going through a lot of that myself lately. Keep your chin up. Remember, it’s only money… right? ;)

I sent this to my mom yesterday. Apparently one of the girls at work got her mortgage reduced from $1400 to $800 per month. They will be in STL *this weekend* https://www.naca.com/index_main.jsp
We’re still listening – keep on writing :)

Well, Patrick, as you know, we went through the same thing with our mortgage companies and they basically told Big L to pat the mortgage and not to worry about using the money for our COBRA insurance so I could get my treatments and medicines. Really, what they told Big L is that they did not care if I died just so long as they got their money on time!!! Well, you know how that turned out and they were unwilling to negotiate anything. But, thankfully, there are programs out there for you, just DO NOT use CCC because that goes against you in the long run ( found that out the hard way, too). Remember about NACA, they will be at the Schafits arena.
