I Hate Writing Long Posts…

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Okay, truth be told, I really don’t like to write those umpteen paragraph posts. The problem is that usually with anything important, it’s hard to crunch it down to bullet points.

Also, I fancy myself a writer…and yet I don’t seem to want to write. Is that odd? Probably. It would be like if you wanted to pursue a sales career, but you didn’t want to sell your parents on the idea of financing it. I should want to do what I supposedly enjoy doing.

Maybe it’s just a motivational problem. I’m going to buckle down after I write this post and write something with some length to it. Let’s see where it goes…

Ants In MY Pants…

Monday, June 29th, 2009

AntsSo, this morning, before going to work, I decide to use the can. I’m sitting there just doing my business, thinking about non sequiturs like jobs in banking and I see an ant on the bathroom wall.

So, I squished the ant.

And he’s on my finger. I use my other hand to grab a piece of toilet paper to wrap him in for disposal and I look away for a second. I look and back and he’s gone.

I understand gravity and ants can’t fly. He fell down into my pants. I have neither the time nor the inclination to look for him. So I just finish up and head to work.

Good luck, little dude. Don’t go into any dark caves. You will regret it.

Wee Bit Grumpy…

Monday, June 29th, 2009

Oh, one more thing. In that last post, I thanked a lot of people. And I’m grateful to them for helping my family. Thank you.

But I’d like to address some other people in this post.

If you didn’t help my family and you don’t have a really good excuse for not offering, you’d better hope you never need a favor from me. Because I’m getting older and I’m finding it easier and easier to hold a grudge. And I will tell you where to stick your request for help.

Seriously. Shove off.

Can I Owe-ski?

I know I owe you guys a lot more proper posts. But I’d be lying if I said I’d been handling the last couple of months very well.

It’s been pretty bad.

Jen has (and continues to recover from) some very serious medical issues. I’d also be lying if I said there weren’t a couple times when I think we nearly lost her. But she’s getting better.

It’s a very, very long road.

There’s some good news. The oldest got a Nintendo DS and is in heaven with it. How we came about it will be the subject of a future post, but I say thank you to Crystal right now.

And he deserves some joy. He’s been dealing really well, all things considered, with Mom going to the hospital and frequently not coming home that night. And he’s handled Dad yelling a lot. And I don’t want to yell. I’m just…stretched…pretty much to the point of breaking.

I also have a lot of people that need thanking. I’ve thanked them all as they helped when they could, but without them, I’d already be fired and homeless and without health insurance and wondering where I could find food for my kids. The job still has an element of jeopardy, but I’m desperately trying to catch up.

Money still sucks. That has only gotten worse. I’m feeling pretty confident we can scratch one of those resolutions off in the fall.

To give you a sneak peek at an upcoming post, I’ve got a serious rant about my near entry into the world of reviewing netbooks. Actually, in this case, it was a notebook, but I got bumped out. I’m working that post up for tomorrow.

Come back soon. And thanks.
