What Business Would You Start?
The fine folks at Pertuity are giving away a Kindle. I’d like one of those, so here’s the question:
If you were loaned $25,000 today by social lending network, Pertuity Direct, what type of online business would you launch?
The online part is the kicker really. I have a couple ideas for offline businesses, but what kind of online business would I like to run? There are a bazillion online businesses with no business models, but infinite buzz. So, what can I add?
I suppose the best idea would just be to modify the offline idea I came up with. Since my background seems to be not-for-profit and I like computers, I’d like to start an organization that provided computers to people who don’t have them.
How would that work with an online model? I suppose you could make some kind of referral system for people to recommend others who need computers. And on the other side, you could offer linkage and advertising to potential computer suppliers to help persuade them to donate. Who wouldn’t want to be associated with that kind of site?
So, that would be my idea. Of course, $25,000 is a pretty small amount to start that. You’d probably need some volunteers for grant-writing and mailings. But $25k would be a decent start.
