A couple things I’d like you to think about:

• If snow has just fallen the night before and the roads aren’t yet plowed and the cars have created wear lines that don’t match up with the lane markings, USE THE WEAR LINES THE CARS HAVE MADE! Otherwise, you will hit one of us because you insist on using the lines NONE OF US CAN SEE!
• One more thing: if you’re going to be driving 55 mph on the highway, before you go, why don’t you go ahead and REMOVE THE SNOW FROM YOUR ROOF!!! ARGH! YOU’RE AN IDIOT!!!

So, if you read me through your feedreader, you may not have seen that at the site, I changed the graphic behind the name of the site (don’t look now…it’s changed back). Normally, I use this area for my pop culture icon of the moment. At one point, it was Voltron. More recently, it’s been Opus from Bloom County.

You know by now that I’m an Obama supporter. So, in honor of the Inauguration, I changed the image of Opus with an ice cream cone to Opus blissfully reclining next to an Obama poster. I dug this and it gave me an idea.

Google calls them doodles. They change the logo for some holidays and historic events. There is an archive for those of you not familiar with these. So, why not me?

But then, the idea went a little further. I don’t really like using copyrighted images in my header. I don’t want to get hit with a cease-and-desist letter and I certainly don’t want to piss off a creator.

So, I need an avatar of my own. Completely of my creation. With a big enough head for some facial expressions. Unfortunately, I have little to no drawing skill. Seriously. So, what’s my best buy for getting an avatar?

You people.

I consulted with Dave of Blogography because his avatar is amazing and he does it all himself on his Mac. I have no such skill. If any of you has some skill with drawing and could draw me an avatar, that’d be awesome. If you know someone, send them this post. I can’t offer any money, but the avatar would be featured here 24/7 and I could provide a link in my sidebar as well. I would want the rights to the character, but I would be happy to provide credit where possible.

'What do you mean we weren't nominated?'

UNBELIEVABLE!

The Academy snubbed ‘The Dark Knight’ with no Best Picture nomination and snubbed Chris Nolan with no Best Director nomination. This is a travesty and an injustice. ‘The Dark Knight’ was an amazing film, but beyond that, it transcended the ‘tights’ genre entirely.

The characters were played magnificently. Heath Ledger (who DID get nominated) took Joker from a just a Batman villain to a maniacal serial killer. As you watched the movie, you really feared for the citizens of Gotham as the Joker raged his war against Batman and society in general.

I was on the edge of my seat for the entire film. The plot twists came fast and furious, and they made sense. You were constantly surprised at every turn. The story was well thought out. By contrast, take ‘Spider-Man 3′, a film I enjoyed. However, at some points, it was just downright ridiculous.

To summarize, I am boycotting the Oscars.
I will not be watching ever again.

Everyone has heard the phrase ‘mommy blogger’. It’s ingrained in the tech community. Why? Because the mommy bloggers got together early and kind of ‘unionized’. They organized and as a result, they’ve gotten a lot of attention, including things like reviewing products and having conferences.

So where are the dads? I’m not sure, but two of them got together and created Dad-Blogs.com. And the dads are coming out of the woodwork! It’s a good site. You have forums, other dads, chat, photo-sharing, lots of great stuff.
