I Can’t Believe This Happened To Me…
So, I debated posting this one. It’s hilarious, but wow, is it embarrassing. I figured it would probably get out from Jen telling her friends. And I wasn’t wrong. It’s spreading out there. So, why should I penalize my online friends who don’t have the benefit of the local network? So, here you have it.
My brand-new, most embarrassing moment…EVER.
On Saturday, Jen and I had a date night. We were going to a reception for her cousin who had recently gotten married out of town. We had a sitter. That does not happen often.
So after, we have plenty of time to kill. And we are child-free. Unless you have kids, you will NOT understand the joy of a child-free night. It’s intoxicating. I love my kids, but man, sometimes we parents have to get out.
And sometimes, things can get a little…frisky…
We’re driving back home and we’re apparently both teenagers again. Because we pass a park and figure, why not? (This was all her idea, by the way.) We pulled in behind the recreation center. As things are getting ‘more intimate’ though, the car becomes flooded with headlights followed by flashing blue and red lights.
SCRAMBLE! SCRAMBLE! CRAP! CRAP! CRAP!
I’m thirty-nine years old…and I’m getting busted by the police…for making out IN A CAR.
I roll down the window and John Q. Law asks me what’s going on. I sing like a canary. He asks for IDs for both of us and proof of insurance and heads back to his car…obviously to wipe the tears of laughter from his eyes and tell his buddy in the second car about what he caught.
Meanwhile, I’m in the car with Jen and I’m shaking my head and she thinks this is the most hilarious thing ever. Ten excruciatingly long minutes later, Officer Law returns and gives us back our stuff. He reminds us that we are trespassing and he’s going to let us off with a warning. We immediately head home.
Lesson learned: if you’re going to make out with someone in your car, best to do it in your garage. No one gets busted and you save money because you’re burning less gas. Hey, look, that’s better for the environment too.
I can’t believe I got busted for making out in a car…

I hope that you made it home by curfew.

We were home pretty much RIGHT after the incident. Trust me.

This wouldn’t happened to have happened at that park in Hazelwood – Sunrise Park or something like that?
Because I, ummm, possibly may have been busted for the same thing there a few years ago.
*shifty eyes*

No, not Hazelwood. This was in South County. Which does raise an interesting question. How the heck did the police get there so fast? Cameras?

The husband and I were busting in a park once…I’ll have to share the details with you privately…we weren’t just smooching…talk about spoiling the mood…but yes, it does make for a funny story to share later.

LAUGH.
We thought about pulling into a park once or twice but I am CONVINCED that this will happen to us. I’m sure the cops were highly amused.

This has to remind me of a story my mom told, when she worked in an ER. For some reason, unbeknownst to me, a couple was “doing it” on a grave, and the tombstone fell over and hit the guy in the back! In obvious pain, he started howling! His spouse got up, grabbed her clothes, jumped in the car and left. Only after nearby residents called the police about the STRANGE HOWLING coming from the cemetary did the police go and investigate, and find the poor guy. My mom was on duty, when he got to the ER. The MORAL here is: Cops have SEEN IT ALL!!!

Cameras? I sure hope your little tryst doesn’t make it onto youtube….. hehehehe I’ve been busted by the cops a couple of times for being suspiciously in my car but I don’t *think* it’s ever been because of “that”. It sure would be a mood killer, I’ll tell ya that! Better luck next time

he he he. I was wondering, you don’t have to share, but DID it kill the mood? I mean, I’ve seen that episode of the Simpsons. . .

Yes, it did kill the moment. Panic will do that.
I think we’ll recover. And that’s all I’m going to say about that.
