I have fasted for religious reasons. I find hot water (think tea without the tea leaves) makes it easiest. I would find it difficult to do it just to see if I could.

I don't think you really need a reason or motive for fasting, but I'm calling it a test of willpower.

Interesting. I have recently (this is day 14) embarked on a new eating plan for myself and one of the days is a fasting period of 24 hours. Nothing but water for a 24 hour period. Yesterday was that fasting day for me, so I had nothing but water after dinner at your house around 8:30 Wed. Last night, even after 9 pm, I still wasn't STARVING like you might think. You'd be surprised how easy it is when the motivation is in it's proper place. People have fasted for various religious reasons over the years, their motivation is usually to seek some kind of spiritual growth or fasting as a way of showing sincerity when petitioning some kind of action on their behalf. There are alot of benefits to fasting with proper motivation but to just not eat for the sake of not eating? Not sure what your motive is, what/who will you rely on when the uncomfortable pangs come knocking? Is there anything you seek to learn or gain from trying this? You're not Muslim now are you?

Well, I think you can do it if you just don't let your body have control over you. You have enough reserve inside that you will be quite alright not eating today. I encourage you to stay strong. Take your focus off of food and direct it towards ... well whatever you need to! When those hunger pangs start, get a big ol' drink of water and then another one. Then physically get up and get busy doing something else. You'd be pleasantly surprised at how you feel once you have finished your goal!!!

I definitely wanna hear how this goes. No way could I do it...sure I'd miss the food, but I'd be so tired and weak. I eat like every couple hours now. You ARE the man though, so you might be able to pull this off. :)

You can do it. But can I suggest something besides Diet Coke? You could make the classic fasting drink - water, lemon, some grade B maple syrup, and a dash of cayenne pepper if you like. I have fasted for two to three days. It's doable. The syrup gives you some sugar and the pepper warmth - the lemon is for cleansing. Might as well get the benefits if you give up food, right?

Plus, all that Diet Coke would make you jumpy.
