Your Funeral Album?

I can’t lie. I’m a little dry on topics lately. I guess with all the stress lately, the ideas haven’t come as readily as they have in the past. What have I got? Treatments for acne? Not as interesting as you might think. Oh, I got something.

If you could pick one album to be played at your funeral, what would it be?

I was thinking about this on the drive into work and I totally figured it out. Make a note, peeps, because I want ‘No Code’ by Pearl Jam on repeat at my funeral. That album hit me on such a powerful base level. It’s not the most popular Pearl Jam, by far, and maybe that makes it all the more appealing to me. Sweet irony, I don’t have the album right now, but it’s on my ‘acquire’ list.

My favorite tracks from the album are ‘Smile’ and ‘I’m Open’.

From ‘Smile’, I love this part:

I miss you already yeah…I miss you always…
I miss you already yeah…I miss you all day…
This is how I feel…

‘I’m Open’ is mostly a spoken word song and this lyric is just awesome:

When he was six, he believed that the moon overhead followed him.
By nine, he deciphered the illusion, trading magic for fact, no trade-backs.
So this is what it’s like to be an adult?
If he only knew now what he knew then.

You know what, let me just get you these tracks through the magic of Seeqpod…assuming the RIAA hasn’t shut it down already. (Update: I found ‘I’m Open’…check it out while it lasts.)

What album would you want played at your funeral?

This is a smart question, Patrick. People should consider what album they’d like to have played at their funeral so it doesn’t leave the family guessing. There are so many options available and songs that just fit the person or favorite songs. Thanks for raising the question to your readers!

It’s funny. I expected more comments on this post, but my wife thinks people don’t really like to think about their mortality. She’s probably right.
