Wal-Mart is horrible about that. I took my watch in, which I bought there no less, and they insisted that they'd never carried that watch. I finally had to inform them that they HAD in fact carried the watch and that I'd bought it seven years ago before they'd moved into their current location.

And returning stuff there - yeesh. They don't require a receipt (you get it on gift card if you don't have one) but they do scan it to make sure they actually sell the item. And it has to be a CURRENT item for sale. If they don't carry it anymore, forget it, even if you do have a receipt.

I don't go to Kohl's or Target because they're both too high priced for me. That and here, their service sucks.

I agree, Wendy. Thirty days seems a little short considering the nature of the store. Go figure...

toys-r-us was just as bad - and i even had a receipt! But since it was past the 30 days (uh, geeze, i had a BABY) I couldn't return the item, couldn't exchange it, couldn't even get a credit. They even still carried the EXACT same item, same packaging, etc. Bastards. I refuse to shop there anymore.

Wow! These stores are tired of getting messed around, I suppose. My cousin just had a baby and one of the places she registered was Target. Well, we invited people from both sides of her family and church from near and far. After the shower, they discovered they had multiples on some of the gifts that were purchased for them at Target but were NOT on her registry. Since they didn't have a receipt and the item was not on her registry, they would not return it because it was over $20. What? She tried to tell them she would just do an exchange or get a gift card to use later, no can do.
Oh well, it happens. Just take it back to Walmart, they don't care if you bought it there or not! LOL

I don't think it's just Kohl's. That type of thing has happened to me several times before...of course I can't remember which stores. I love Kohl's and Target, so your battery trauma isn't gonna scare me away!
