I Should Like Weezer More Than I Do…
So, has there ever been a group that seems like they should be right up your alley in terms of your musical tastes? A couple years back, I felt that way about the Dave Matthews Band. They seemed like a perfect fit for me. I bought ‘Under The Table And Dreaming’. And I hated it. Really. Just awful. Got on my nerves in two and a half songs. The only song I really liked was ‘Ants Marching’ and that wore thin fairly quickly. So sometimes the obvious musical choice isn’t so obvious.
Which brings us to Weezer. Weezer seems like a band I could absolutely love. Like right up there with Pearl Jam or REM. Yes, that good. They write quirky fun songs, they did a video with the Muppets, they’re kind of geeky. These things should make me and Weezer a perfect fit. I’ve tried a couple times and I’m still on the fence though.
So, I need to give this a serious go. If you’re a Weezer fan, what is the best album to jump in with? If you hate Weezer, who would you recommend for quirky fun music? Help me out.

I think the self titled one (Blue Album) is the quintessential album. I love Weezer but have never owned any of their stuff - it always just seems like all of my friends/girlfriends always have that first album.

weezer is my all time favorite band to sing to while i’m drunk. now that i’ve admitted that. . . i second Jason’s recommendation for the Blue album.

I find that bands with entertaining videos may or may not hold up well to just casual listening. Sometimes, I don’t like a song much until it’s been set to some visuals…then because i can replay the visual in my head when hearing the song, it’s more fun.
But really, I’m no help as I couldn’t even name a Weezer song for you. I did enjoy the videos, though!

I’ve liked Weezer since I saw the video for Buddy Holly when they superimposed themselves into the set from Happy Days. That’s my kind of geekery. But I’m not much help because I tend not to buy CDs, just iTunes, so I don’t even know what albums the songs I have belong to. Sorry.

Self titled Blue album. But I’d also go for the Green one - in fact, I will burn it for you if you like. The self-titled is necessary but I like Green more, as a fan.

i like Make Believe the best, but that might be because it’s associated with great memories of driving around Southern California.
