Yes, I Owned A Culture Club Album…

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

So, everyone has that first album they got. You remember it? Remember how excited you were? Remember how you played it to death until even you were sick of it? Well, my first album was Quiet Riot’s ‘Metal Health’. You may remember it for the cover of Slade’s ‘Cum On Feel The Noize’. Kissing To Be Clever from Culture Club

But just behind it, literally by minutes, was the Culture Club album, ‘Kissing To Be Clever’. Bear in mind this was 1983 and I was like, thirteen. I had no idea what the whole dressing like a chick thing meant. I can only imagine what my mom thought. Regardless, I dug the music and played that LP to death…along with the Quiet Riot.

In that same rotation, by the way, were The Police’s ‘Synchronicity’ and some Weird Al album, the one with ‘Eat It’ on it. Maybe this explains my eclectic taste in music now. Hmmm…

Here are videos from both albums. Fire up the Wayback machine!

You know, Boy George kind of reminds of this girl I went to high school with. I can’t mention her name in case she reads this blog. But it’s not really that much of an insult. Boy George is kind of an attractive-looking chick…wow, that sounded way gay-er than it was meant to…eh, never mind.

Here’s a picture of UK glamour model Keeley Hazell (mildly NSFW) just to prove I’m all man. So there. And you’re welcome, gentlemen.

(Patrick’s note: This post is meant to be humorous. If you were offended, you don’t get the jokes. That just confirms I’m a crappy writer. It doesn’t make me a homophobe. Thank you. Good night!)

More Proof That Fergie Is Stupid…

Monday, April 28th, 2008

(Note: This post is kind of mean. You have been warned.)

So, apparently, Fergie is just so excited that she is recording a song for the new whore-fest movie, ‘Sex And The City’. She says she ‘grew up’ watching this show. Do the math…or let that aforementioned article there do the math for you. She was 23 when ‘Sex And The City’ premiered back in 1998. Someone get Fergie a calculator…and of course, more Depends!

(Yes, I know. You pee your pants one time and they never, ever let you forget it. Eh…yes, that sounds about right.)

It’s A Feast…On Friday…

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Why not? It’s a Friday’s Feast. Here goes.

Appetizer
Name something you would categorize as weird.
People seem so desperate for the world ‘to be ending’ that they jump at every chance to delight in another natural disaster. That, to me, is weird. The world is cyclic…get over it.

Soup
What color was the last piece of food you ate?
Red. It was General Tzo’s chicken. Dee-licious! Scratch that. It was brown; it was the Symphony Blue chocolate bar my co-worker gave me.

Salad
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you enjoy being alone?
Five. It can go either way. Sometimes I enjoy some ‘me’ time. Other times, I want to be with my family and friends.

Main Course
Fill in the blank: I will _________ vote for ___________ in _______.
I will always vote for the candidate in which I feel most confident.

Dessert
Describe your sleeping habits.
I lay in bed, close my eyes and anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes later, I am out. Don’t hate the player; hate the game.

Have a good weekend, peeps.

Why I’ll Be Resigning From The Saint Louis Bloggers Guild…

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

So, I started working with a group in the last couple months. It’s a group of local Saint Louis bloggers. They meet to chat and network and build relationships. And that’s something I’ve been wanting to do to both help grow my blog and just meet more people. And it’s been really cool.

They’ve even started a guild. It’s a formal group to unite, organize and help local bloggers connect with other local bloggers. It’s a great idea and it’s cool that I got in the start…I’m like a founder.

But the truth is, we (being me and my family) barely get by financially and I simply can’t afford the $40 per year guild fees. I can’t. I wish that I could, but blogging is just a hobby for me and the domain and hosting costs are about the most I can swing for expenses. So I’ll guess I’ll stick around as long as they’ll let me.

If you’re a local blogger here in the Saint Louis area, I highly recommend you check them out. It could be a great resource for information and networking.

UPDATE: May be scholarships available. Maybe I’ll still in. Who’s gonna write me a letter of recommendation?!? EVEN MORE UPDATE: I’m still in. Cool.
