A Message From The Hippie In Me…

I think we spend too much time hating.

We hate that guy who cut us off getting on the highway.
We hate our boss for making us work late.
We hate that jerk on the radio criticizing your presidential candidate.

I think we hate because deep down, people enjoy hating. Some use it for motivation, some use it for entertainment and some just use it to alleviate the boredom of regular life. I have been guilty of all these reasons. You probably have too. Heck, some of you probably hate the truth in those statements.

My son gets it though. Tonight, he pops out with the line: ‘I love you, dad.’ Not because he’s done something wrong. Not because he wants something. But simply a pure declaration of fact. To which, of course, I reply: ‘I love you too.’ We could use more of that in the world. Less hate, more love. I can’t promise I’ll try, but maybe…
