Not My Three-Year-Old…

Monday, February 25th, 2008

The oldest boy wants to watch the Star Wars Trilogy so bad he can taste it. I told him he can watch ‘SW:A New Hope’ on his fourth birthday. I imagine it may go down a little like this girl, but my boy’s knowledge may be a little deeper, just because of the Lego Star Wars game.

Why I Don’t Have A Tumblelog…

Monday, February 25th, 2008

First things first. If you don’t know what a tumblelog is, go here.

Cool.

So, I have toyed with the idea of having a tumblelog. Why? Some people like to think of blogs as heavy on the written word and not so much pictures and videos. I was the same way for awhile. That’s where the tumblelog comes in. With its focus on short posts and mixed-media, it seems like the perfect place for those YouTube videos and pictures and five-word-posts.

And that’s fine.

But the problem is that unless you set up your own installation using a full-featured blog platform (like WordPress, for example), you’re at the mercy of places like tumblr.com. Now I’m not criticizing tumblr. They do a great job, even without having that ‘e’ in their name. But if they closed their doors tomorrow, you’d lose everything you had saved and built there and the recovery could be a real nightmare. If this blog right here goes down, I have a complete backup, including the database, on my hard drive at home.

(Also, ‘no comments’ is bullsh*t. It just is.)

Huge Bowl

It’s cereal, not flour. Don’t worry.

Something To Really Think About…

I’m probably late to the dance…as always.
But this is easily worth sharing, no matter how ‘current’ it is.

As of today, Dr. Pausch is still alive.

Greatest Duets…

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

Found this over at Neatorama Filmoculous, I think.

This site composed a list of what they consider the 25 greatest duets of all-time. There’s some great stuff on there. Check it out. Most of them (if not all) have actual clips of the duet. Very cool.

My favorite? It’s close. It could have been #13, ‘Under Pressure’ by David Bowie and Queen. It could have been #22, ‘Hunger Strike’ from Temple Of The Dog. But ultimately, and The Wife will back me up on this, I had to go with #23, Tammy Wynette and the KLF. Crank this mother and press play!!!
