I Should Read More…
So, whilst sitting here in the basement NOT doing the financials, I had a thought. I need to read more. But I can’t really afford to buy books from Amazon.com. So what’s a person to do?
Google search, duh.
I found a site called Paperback Swap. Here’s the deal. You list books you are willing to let go. You pay postage to whomever wants the book. You get a book sent to you and someone else pays that postage. So, it seems neat. If you’re already a member, let me know and we can be ‘buddies’ in the system, whatever that does.
I’ll let you know how this goes after I’ve gotten my first book.

Definitely keep me informed on this one. I’ve got a ton of books to trade, so I’ll probably go ahead and set up an account so you can see what I’ve got. Just remind me if I don’t do it in the next day or two!

Sounds cool. I’ve got boxes of books downstairs. Let me know how it goes.

Huh, this is the second blog that I’ve read about with paperbacks being swapped. And neither of them are bookcrossing.com.
Anyway, that’s another site for stuff like this. And yes, that’s where I’m at.
Anyway, tell me what you get.

I’ve got tons of paperbacks also, mostly Sci Fi and Fantasy, but also Mystery and others. This sounds interesting. keep us posted on how it works.
What types of books are you interested in? I’ll check inventory and see what I have. Ugh! Another chore, to catalog and post a book list, as if I don’t have enough to do. But it seems this would be worthwhile.
By the way, miss your KMRL show, hope you can make it back sometime,
Joe

Joe the Bear: I miss his show on KMRL too, I didn’t get to listen very often, but it was fun when I did!
All: This is a great idea, swapping books and such. My only problem goes like this: I don’t read many books to the finish and when I do, I feel such a sense of connection to that book, I don’t want to get rid of it LOL So I just keep buying new ones! These sites are only for swapping not getting

I’ve been looking at a few services myself so I’m also curious to see how this one works!

Well Becca, what types of books do you like? I’ll try and get a list up on my blog or available for email after the Xmas holiday and I’ll try and send some to you gratis. I agree with you about the connection with certain books, but I’ve got so many I have to do something. My better half keeps threatening to get rid of them.

PS, yes Patrick Rocked on Thursdays! Even if I couldn’t listen as much as I would have liked. But it’s easy to see how life can get in the way.
I look forward to his eventual return to KMRL.

This sounds very interesting, but I too have a hard time letting my books go…seems like it *could* work, but I’m skeptical, so please let us know if it works out for you.
I also found http://www.shelfari.com, so let me know if you want to be my friend. I’m trybl_dance on there.
