Hey Blogger.com…BITE ME!

So, I went to a friend’s post today to leave a comment and apparently…apparently, regular (non-Blogger.com) bloggers CAN’T leave their URL on the comment. The only options are using your Google/Blogger account, a single nickname with NO URL or anonymous.

Well, gee, Blogger, thanks for the c*ckblock. I appreciate the link love. NOT!

UPDATE: Others have blogged about this bad move by Google as well.

MORE UPDATE: And another blogger complaining about this crap!

MORE MORE UPDATE: And more it seems!

I ran into that too. I used to use Blogger, for quite a while, but it was so unstable and I hated the “beta” they were pushing. Ah well.

I think the blogger using Blogger can set his comment preferences to allow “foreign” url links or not.

Does it depend on the settings the person has for commenters? I recently changed mine to basically allow anyone to leave it, but to my knowledge you can leave your link! No?

I checked your comments, Becca and I can’t leave my URL there at all.

The best thing I ever did was move from blogger to my own wordpress installation… it was like living with an unstable control freak.

Agreed. But I read a LOT of Blogger.com blogs and want to continue commenting as commenting is the single biggest thing I’ve found for building audience. (BTW, thanks for posting.)

You might find that sometimes in the comments section you don’t even have the “nickname” or “anon” option and you HAVE to sign in with a blogger account to leave a comment.
I had a vent on one of my blogs about it.

Yes, Blogger bites bigtime – it pisses me off.

I’ve just started leaving an href link in my comment. It’s a pain – but I only type it out once and then copy – paste for all over comments.
