You Know How I Love Apple…
This is great!
So, all you people who bought the iPhone and said ‘hey, I don’t want to use AT&T, I’ll just hack it’. GUESS WHAT? Apple is going to turn your phone into a $600 brick! Congratulations! You screwed yourself!
And you know what the best part of it all is? Even Leo Laporte, the self-anointed buttkisser of all things Apple is angry with Apple. Leo Laporte, who would buy a bathroom sink from Apple and tell you how much better they are than any other sink is mad at Apple. LEO is angry with Apple! Unbelievable!
Sometimes, life is good and sometimes, life is very good.
(For the record, Apple is completely justified in bricking phones. You agreed to AT&T only and you BROKE the rules. Suck it up and take your punishment.)

For some reason, your Apple hate amuses me. And I do love the smarty-pants people getting screwed.

I work for you! Glad I can amuse…

Your rants usually do amuse me…hey what happened to ‘Pirate’ themed captchas?

Luckily we don’t have the iPhone in the UK yet so we can learn from others mistakes – and a costly one it would have been…

You know, I think it’s a bit rude of Apple, but you are 100% right – you knew the rules, you choose to break them, sucks to be you. I’m just one of those people who can’t stand it when someone skirts the rules or acts like they don’t need to live up to what they agreed to. You signed it, you knew, you screwed your-own-damn-self smarty-pants.

Amen, sista!

Well, that’s what people get for screwing up with the provisions they had already agreed to. If you think it’s lacking something or you don’t like what it is packaged with, then don’t buy it! Hopefully this will be a lesson for those who intend to “alter” gadgets like iPhone.

Amen indeed, although bricking makes for bad Apple PR, and bricking only benefits AT&T. So why does Apple bother?
October 3rd, 2007 at 2:45 pm
Apple bothers because Apple HAS to protect their end of the agreement with AT&T. Apple is probably getting revenue from AT&T because of the exclusivity. If AT&T walks away, I’m sure Apple would stand to lose revenue and credibility with future partnerships.

For the most part I agree with you, but I still have some reservations. Great post though!
