My First Craigslist Experience…

So, I have this Palm Treo 650. I love this phone. I love this phone so much I would consider taking photos of it and rotating them in a digital frame. But since the cellular service got cut off, I don’t have the need for it. So I tried (twice) to sell it on eBay, but couldn’t get the minimum I wanted. So last week, I opted to try Craigslist because I’d heard good things about it.

I listed my phone. The first thing I noticed was that Craigslist will tell you not to take checks or money orders. Apparently, everyone on Craigslist is trying to rip you off. So I insisted on cash. I was overwhelmed at the response I got. At least seven people emailed me about buying the phone. It was sold the next day. And I got cash. All in all, I highly recommend Craigslist. Another bonus…NO FEES!

I love Craigslist. It seriously works for EVERYTHING. If you have junk around your house that you don’t feel like taking to the dump, just post it and sure enough someone will be interested in picking it up.

What I like about it, unlike Ebay is that it’s local. So you can go look at the product before you buy it.

And the no fees thing doesn’t hurt either.

Yeah, craiglist has come a long way. Even well known companies (well maybe not THAT well known) like SEOMoz do their hiring in part from Craigslist.

I’m thinking about posting an employment position up there myself actually.

Re: the scamming, nothing new…people are always trying to scam you on the net :)

I will have to give it a second chance. I swear, the first time I tried craigslist, I clicked on the “wanted” to see if there was anything I could sell and about the third thing I saw said “Send me pictures of your butt.” While I can always use extra cash, um, no.

I can send some butt pictures. Are they into hairy pics? :)
