Best Holiday For…
The other day, a discussion arose in my workplace about holidays. Which holiday has the best food? Which holiday is best for getting gifts? You get the idea. I thought I’d make my picks here on the blog. Why not? So, without further adieu, my list:
- Food – Easily Thanksgiving. I have to have the cranberry gel shaped like a can or I’m not eating. Christmas is a far-off second.
- Presents – Birthday. I know you’re thinking Christmas, but your birthday is all about you. For that reason alone, it’s number one. (I’m not even mentioning the cake.) Christmas is a close second though.
- Candy – Could go either way, but I give the nod to Halloween over Easter. I get two buckets from the kids and an extra bucket if the door traffic is light. Win-win-win!
- Love – Valentine’s Day is way over-commercialized, so the winner is your anniversary. For the same reason as your birthday, it’s a special holiday just for you (and one other person). Downside, of course, is you have to buy gifts, but some jewelry and some flowers should do the trick.

I definitely agree with you on the food – Thanksgiving is first (in our family, it’s all about the food!) and Christmas would be second, but it would never stand a chance.
For presents, I agree with you there as well. I get more for my birthday – however, I do like the atmosphere of Christmas better. It’s a lot more exciting.
And since we don’t do candy for Easter that much, Halloween gets my vote on that one.
Interesting post. I enjoyed reading.

I think Thanksgiving first for food, followed by the 4th of July baby! We have awesome food for the 4th! I wish it was July 4th right now, I could go for some grilled & bbq’d everything!

The 4th is pretty good too.

For Food, Thanksgiving is definitely awesome – my grandmother makes me a DOUBLE BATCH of brownies just for me, because eveyrone else in the family likes walnuts in theirs and I don’t. So the rest of the family shares one double batch and I get the entire other one. I don’t know why she doesn’t just make me a single batch, never asked, don’t want to rock the boat. However, it is also traditional the most stressful holiday on my side of the family, and usually at least one person ends up in tears. So that’s sort of a draw.
My Birthday is not only awesome for getting presents, but I also have a large annual birthday picnic so it’s good for food and for you know, seeing people that I like (something that doesn’t necessarily happen on every holiday.
