Other Bloggers, Take Note…
This post is primarily for other bloggers, but feel free to read it.
I was listening to the WordPress Podcast a couple months ago and they made a point that stuck with me. In fact, it blew me away. Your readers may never actually see your blog. Think about that a moment. Many readers use feed readers or email services to read blogs they like. Many bloggers work day and night to create massive sidebars with ads, blogrolls, links, graphics, etc. and some of your readers will never see them.
What does this mean? It means, and here is the lesson, CONTENT IS EVERYTHING! Make quality content, first and foremost. When you blog, make it mean something. THAT is what will bring them back. Sure, sidebars are fun and neat, but ultimately, you have to have content that they can’t wait to get their hands on.
Here endeth the lesson.

Thank you. I try hard to keep it interesting.

Well, and don’t you kind of have to?

Interesting. I write what I want to, because I do blog for myself. I love my readers, just for existing, and doubly for reading even one post, but they are not why I blog.

People come back to your blog?

Hi Patrick! This is Shea. I’ve been swimming, bowling and golfing today. Mom said you’ve been on the computer a long time for JDRF. What have you been up to? Fun things or BORING things? Shea

Give it up for Shea. You are the trooper. Shouldn’t you be in bed? That is a busy day. I’ve been doing fun things myself: writing about grown-up junk, playing DJ and eating food.
Now go to bed!
