Drinking From A Bucket…
Someone at a site I frequent offered the challenge to blog about stupid laws. That reminded me of a law I remember hearing about many years ago. A Google search confirmed that it’s still illegal in Saint Louis to sit on the curb of any city street and drink beer from a bucket.
I can’t believe there was a point at some time where the legislators said, “we have got to do something about these people drinking beer from buckets on our city streets.” But I guess it happened.

Did it mention steins? When I sit on me arse on the curbs and drink beer, I love to have my trusty stein handy.

Oh, sure. Don’t you love to drink beer from a bucket on the street?

Think Strausenfest. If you remember, way back when we were kids, they served beer in buckets. I dont know if they still do, but that is the only thing I can think, that would make this law even partially believable.

This law is so cool! Great opportunity for UTube kids to get a bucket of beer, start drinking, and get arrested on tape. Sounds like a fun way to make a video

This law is funny. It’s amazing what the legislatures come up with!

There are numerous laws out there that were made when our country was founded. I mean they are ridiculously old and outdated. But even with today’s systems, it is not possible to update all of them in a timely manner.

One year I lived in a huge old apartment by the loop with 4 other girls as roommates.
During the summer at one point, we had 7 people staying there, which, by St. Louis law is considered a brothel, and illegal!

Hard to find a real, clearly-defined statute number enforcing it, but a lot of sites confirm it.
