An Open Letter To SMG…
Dear Sarah Michelle Gellar,
Recently, you sent your talentless hack husband out to the press with a message supposedly from you. Freddie Prinze Jr. (whose sole claim to fame was that his dad was a great comic who died too early) says you wouldn’t do a Buffy movie if one was proposed. He goes on to say that was tried once and didn’t work, but I’ll get to that later.
It seems that since BtVS ended, you have been distancing yourself from the Buffyverse and its fans. Let me tell you why that’s a mistake. Most people can’t name two films you’ve been in. (Not counting those awful Scooby movies when you suck up to an animated dog…great films.) If Joss Whedon hadn’t cast you as Buffy, you’d probably still be working soap operas or college student films or at a Dairy Queen. You should be kissing Joss Whedon’s butt every other day for making you a star.
Now about that comment you or Freddie came up with about the previous Buffy film…you people obviously have no idea about the origins of the original movie. Joss didn’t have the control of the movie he wanted and the studios turned it into campy garbage. If Joss made a movie based on BtVS, it’d probably be something amazingly well-done such as the upcoming Serenity movie (opening September 30th).
I suggest you stop badmouthing the Buffyverse before you ruin great memories us Buffy fans have of the show…and of you.

Can’t agree more! And it’s mindboggling to me why she doesn’t want give credit to that show for making her star. Does she realize the Buffy worship that is STILL out there?!
I guess she’s bitter that she now has a husband to support. On to The Grudge 2…

If you were trying to convince SMG that she shouldn’t distance herself from the Buffyverse, then you did a lousy job. Receiving a letter from a Buffy fan in where the first sentence, no, the entire first paragraph insults her husband, speaks very low of some Buffy fans.
BtVS did not make SMG a star. In fact, SMG was cast in both ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ and ‘Scream 2’ before BtVS even hit the airwaves. BtVS didn’t even become critically acclaimed until it’s 3rd season. And by the time a lot of people started taking interest in BtVS (myself included), she had starred/done voice over work in 5 major Hollywood films.
Now I love BtVS. But it’s time has come and passed. It’s ratings weren’t stellar. Anything other than a made for TV movie/mini-series is just wouldn’t be profitable.
Be happy with the 7 seasons we have. And let SMG move on with her life if that’s what she wants.

Fair enough if she wants to move on and leave the Buffyverse behind her, but after expecting fans to invest 7 years (or more) of their lives supporting her career as an actress she couldn’t even do one lousy extra for the DVD sets. No comments, no outtakes, commentaries or even goofs were contributed to by SMG and I think that’s crappy. I consider myself a Buffy fan but definitely NOT an SMG fan and I can safely say I will not invest one dollar of my money or one minute of my time on any of her later work if she can’t stop treating Buffy fans as an annoying burden that one must endure in the tedium of “Stardom”. If she thinks a Buffy movie would be bad then I guess she was never forced to watch Scooby Doo! She shouldn’t shit on her fans just because she thinks she is a bigger star now than she was when she did the show.

u people have realy got no right saying what u did u dont know her well enough to even say those thing and actually she has been thanking her fans allot and i have seen with my own eyes im a big BtVS fan and SMG fan and if she did disrespect her huband like all u say dont u think they would b ova by now i can see just by pics and vid there madly inlove word of advice dont hear 1 thing and jump to a conclusion that there a bitch or something u people really have no right i agree with ur comment 100 percent cvgnus!!!…
